So far I have 3 of the spell levels for both type (clerical and Sorceror) in the game, and the battle engine is progressing nicely, except for a few small niggles, character and item editors are now finished, monster and map to do, then I can have the fun of decrypting the event.dat.... Yay, fun....

Ok, I've totaly rewrote the 3d engine for the maps, now each map is one whole mesh, instead of upto 1024 of them, since all wall were originally a seperate object, now collisions works properly, Ie: you can't see through the walls anymore.
I did this to show the whole world map at once. which I got working, but it was SLOW ass hell, I got one fps on my Duron 1000, with a Gf4mx440...
I didn't even try it on my celeron 500 with a gf2mx.

Finished the added a character editor to the Editor, and fixed the monsters to be updated with the correct values.
Monsters can fight back now, they don't offer that much off a challendge at the moment since all they do is attack, the specials are being added at the moment.

*UPDATE*
more monster information fully decoded, some changed. Monsters now have both there Single member ability decoded and the Party member ability decoded, whether they are undead, an archer or can flee.
The party ability damage is done as a percentage of hitpoints, (found this out by setting a monsters HP to FF in th data file, which is 64000 in the game, and when it invoked power, one of the combat abilities, it did a nice 32000 damage to all my characters.
Characters can now hurt enemies, by attacking, fighting , or shooting, damage is read from the weapon. all that needs to be done is spells, and using items (since they are similar, most items cast spells. :) for the party members
Which sort of killed me. I was hoping to add a graphically challenged combat to it and release it by sunday, but that might not happen, just depends. :)

combat is getting there all that needs to be done to the basic engine is the monsters attacks and making the choice you choose for your character have an effect.

*Update* all items are now read in to a type, also have an editor so you can change them... not that it would help atm. :) but if you own the PC or amiga versions it works with them :) Monsters are loaded in aswell now, not fully decrypted. but they can fight :). started to add combat, where ever there is a white square on the ground combat starts. it will be a short time before a new version will be out though.

So far as in the discryption all you can do is walk around the maps.
To skip maps you press space, and to skip the 2d view you press escape.

If anyone wants to help decrypt the event.dat or the graphics files let me know and I'll send you it andwhat I have discovered.

I know all the Old school RPG'ers would know what the Might and Magic 2 series is, this was the First RPG that I ever played, and I think it is one of the best RPG Ever made, the freedom, the story, the attempt at killing the megadragon... you know it all, the bug that gives clerics 32767+ hit points some times when they get there + :).

Anyway, this is my attemp to decrypt and rewrite Might and Magic in blitzbasic. (it is for educational purposes only mr lawyer.) anyway, all I got finished before I gave up in trying to understand the event.dat was being able to walk on any of the levels.
