Ok, now there is a nice program to view the file inforamtion. it doesn't show all info yet, but it is better then nothing.
all I need to do now is convert the rest of the imnformation to be read into a type instead of arrays.

converting it to use more then 3 points didn't help the textures so I have given up on them for now.

Woohoo, Played around with the directX file creation.
This lets me read the model in, output it as a directX model with faces having more then 3 Points, hopefully this lets the texturing work properly :)

Thats all for now, sooner or later, I will be able to create my own file format that can store more then just mesh information, best thing I will release the format to the Blitz Community.

I decided, since I'm am attempting to make a Space-sim, that instead of making lots of quick sample models, I would find some on the net to use for 'testing' :) purposes.

In the process of this I found a site, that had a lot of information about Freespace 1 and 2. Including the Source (The source was released not that long ago from Violition Inc), It also had a description of the file format.

Since the models from freespace 1 and 2 look pretty sweet I decided to see If I could import them into Blitz3d, one weekend later I had got it all to be imported correctly (the mesh anyway, execpt for Texture UV mapping) and was able to create blitz3d mesh out of the model. It also can save each of the meshes from the file (the file format has subobjects for different parts of the model.) as basic directX models (that can be viewed via 3d Explorer). Which is useless but cool in a way :).

anyway, that is enough ramblings for now.
