Wow, this is the longest I have left a project, and one thats wso advanced too... right... Im going to restart this... I have refined the menus a liitle and added the names of Power Tetris specific gameplay modes...

Basically there are currently the normal modes, taken from the GBA version of tetris plus a few other modes from some other versions.

Now I am going to start on my gameplay modes, which include single block shapes that can either be good or bad for you... There will also be a 2 player battle mode, a bit like puyo puyo where blocks are dropped into the other players screen if you drop some lines.

Back on track ...

Well I have started to add more to the game, the menus have been refined again so they are quicker and more responsive. I have also added a section with Power Tetris Gameplay modes, which will feature special blocks, etc. This is not implementd yet but I have coded everything to handle special blocks I just need to make them part of the random 'Next Shape' selector and code the effects they will bring (Good or Bad).

Finally I have started on the network 2 player gameplay. Just been researching the commands, nothing more but it is looking promising the code I have developed so far. I have been planning this for ages but its taking ages for me to do, not to mention the fact I have started 2 other projects ... Oh well.

ARSE ... after a long delay in pushing this forward I went backwards, Windows would not let me in and I had to format my HD, problem is it formatted it all, every partition gone ... Now im back and ready to move it forward again.

My backup which I made a while back is only at version 0.8 . So the 0.8.5 changes I made will have to be redone. Thankfully some documentation and this site helped my figure out what I did so hopefully ill be back on track within days ... fingers crossed.

Okay, Im on track for releasing v0.8.7 (bloody long version numbers). This will finally have the last original gameplay mode, at the moment its playable and I could release it but there is no saving to the high score so ill fix that first.

I have also added in some more options, well only one. It allows you to specify that you want the shape to rotate always, even at the sides of the gameplay area.

There is very little to add now which does not complete the game as a full product. I know I need to add more gameplay modes using special blocks for some gameplay twist and that will be done as soon as I have released v0.8.7.

Well 0.7 is going to be ready pretty soon and it will include skins (only 2 currently) and the ability to adjust the shapes position before its completely landed (like at tetrises do).

Not much this update but there are new things there :)

Well, I have coded in the beginings of the skin selector. I have managed to create a default skin and thanks to some excellent images from muffles I have created the basics of the skin system.

I have yet to add the other gameplay modes, skins just took over but they will be there for version 0.9, honest!!!

Thats all for now... :)

Many extra things are almost working now. 2 player head-to-head is implemented and as far as my testing goes, it now works. Also player 2 keys are reconfigurable via the change keys options menu item.

I have yet to implement all of the other single player gameplay modes but that it something that's getting closer and closer with the addition of multiple hi-score tables. Which are also in.

I have got some music from the mod site link in the BB help so you can now have menu and in-game music. This can also be turned off via the options.

All thats left now is the addition of special blocks for single player mode 5 (yet to be introduced on the menu), the various almost complete other 3 single player modes and the music and soundfx volume controls.

The next version is definately be almost complete and I will probably release the source, which is well hacked together at over 2500 lines :)

I have now managed to finish off the Options screen and the customisable controls screen. This leaves only the game play modes, which I have already written most of the code for. The first 2 game modes will be based upon the Gameboy version while the other 2 are based upon other versions of tetris.

The next version should be almost complete, all that will be missing is the music. I have been contacted by someone who said they are willing to do music and sounds so hopefully my first finished game will be around the corner :)

Started on the Options screen now as most of the code is done elsewhere.

I needed a function to return nice keynames for the users benefit when mapping keys. I looked everywhere but found nothing. So, I wrote one. You can find it here:

I have a working version of this in the code now, which also shows the key names as graphical text which is nice. I have also written a code to load/save options to/from a file, which working nicely.

Expect an update to the game soon with a nice advanced options screen.

Thats about it. I think its not bad for 3 hours work.
