"Using strange characters in identifiers", by thechange

The Blitz IDE and compiler allow the usage of extended characters in identifier names. For example having fake spaces in function names.

Note: This only works with versions of Blitz below somewhere around v1.75 :/

; How? There exist extended characters, which can fortunately be used in Blitz!
; Extended characters? These are characters above the range of the keys on your
; keyboard, which can be accessed by a special key-combination or by using the
; Windows Character Map (since Windows 3.1). As for the special key-combination:
; Hold Alt and type in the character code on the numerical keypad, release Alt
; and voilс! :)

; Normally a font has 256 unique characters but Windows seems to use different
; font pages so there's a significant preceding zero you will see below which
; will give access to another range of characters, such as the fake space
; character.

; Here are the characters I found you can use as the *leading* character of an
; identifier:

; 0255
; 0217
; 0205
; 0193
; 0191
; 0190
; 0189
; 0159
; 0141
; 0135
; 0129
;  252
;  249
;  158
;  159

; But there are many others - I didn't take as much time to find all possible
; characters.

; Most other extended characters, such as the fake space, which has character
; code 0160, function the same as a number, which you can only *append* to the
; leading character such as alpha characters (A-z).

; For example normally you can't start a function name, variable name, array
; name etc (identifiers) with a number (0-9) or special sign (%#@$_). But alpha
; characters (A-z) are accepted as *leading* character of an identifier. The
; same goes for the listed character codes above. *Most* other codes are
; accepted as 'appendable' characters.

; And there are a lot of anomalies as well when fooling around with the extended
; character codes. So be careful what you wish for ;)

; As a good example of an anomaly, check this out:
  Function НМО_ ()  ; 0141, 0140, 0142, "_"
  End Function
; Which will give an interesting error message :P
; The comments display the character codes used. But you can simply copy/paste.

; Here's another example featuring character 0160, which resembles a (fake)
; space in *most* fonts, for example:
  Local Г 8■ = -2147483648  ; 0159, 0160, "8", 0254

; Anyway have fun with this :) Although I believe it can be pretty dangerous :P
